Davenport man convicted by federal jury for child pornography

A Davenport man was convicted for producing, distributing and possessing child pornography.

A federal jury convicted David Woods, 51. According to public court documents and evidence presented at trial, Woods sexually abused two minor victims and produced recordings and images of the victims, which he sent to others.

Jason Heider, 47, of Moline, was also charged. In July 2022, Heider pled guilty to production and receipt of child pornography and admitted to his involvement in the abuse and production of the child pornography.

The Davenport Police Department investigated the case.

This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse launched in May 2006 by the Department of Justice. Led by U.S. Attorneys’ Offices and the Child Exploitation and Obscenity
Section, Project Safe Childhood marshals federal, state, and local resources to better locate, apprehend and prosecute individuals who exploit children via the Internet, as well as to identify
and rescue victims.
